Harry Styles, Sam Fender and Little Simz are among the artists competing for the Sea Prize cury of this year, ar arguably the most prestigious award in British music.
Awarding the best British or Irish album of the last 12 months, the Mercury has already been recognized by artists like Pulp, Skepta and PJ Harvey.
Ten of this year's shortlisted albums come from first-time nominees.
They include pop provocateur Self Esteem and folk singer Gwenno, whose album Tresor is sung mostly in Cornish. group Nova Twins and jazz musician Fergus McCreadie.
McCreadie told BBC 6 Music: "It's great to be a part of this for Scottish music , to have this recognition, I hope it can embolden musicians in Scotland. were on the list while they were in an antique shop in Hastings.
