Milan and Leao face a problem in contract negotiations

AC Milan seem to have hit a major stumbling block in their bid to get Rafael Leao to sign a new contract. As Marca reported, the Rossoneri have put an offer of €5m per season on the striker's table, but he is holding out for €7m.

Milan reportedly paid just under €30m to sign Leao from LOSC Lille in 2019. Since then, the Portugal international has developed into a very powerful striker, scoring 34 goals and providing 30 assists in 135 appearances all competitions combined for the seven-time European champions. The 23-year-old mainly plays on the left, but he can do a good job anywhere across the spectrum of attacking positions.

Real Madrid, Barcelona and Chelsea have been credited with strong interest in Leao, whose current contract expires at the end of 2024. Speaking to Record, his father Antonio even mentioned these three clubs while talking about the future.

Leao seems to prefer staying in Milan for the time being. He feels happy there and recognizes all they have done to help him get where he is. But if there is no progress in contract negotiations in the coming months, even more potential suitors will likely come knocking.
