Milan Fashion Week September is full of first shows

MILAN – Milan Fashion Week September, which runs from September 20-26, is expected to be packed, with 67 mostly physical shows, highly anticipated debuts and plenty of returning designer brands.< /p>

Among the designers who present their first collections for the historic houses, Marco de Vincenzo, the new creative director of Etro, will make his debut at the head of the famous Italian brand. For that, he chose a location on the outskirts of town for the September 23 event, which takes place hours after Filippo Grazioli's revamped vision for Missoni. This will be Grazioli's first show since joining the brand as creative director in March. He was already behind the resort and spring men's collections unveiled at presentations earlier this summer.

The following day, September 24, a few more highly anticipated debuts take place: Salvatore Ferragamo, who showed off via presentation last season as he prepared for a creative changing of the guard, is back with a coed show designed by newly installed Creative Director Maximilian Davis, while Bally, who had traditionally held presentations, made his runway debut with the first collection designed by Rhuigi Villaseñor, the Manila-born designer behind the Rhude brand.

While a few slots will still be allocated later in the evening, fashion enthusiasts can expect the real action to begin on September 21, when the collective of designers and color fashion professionals We Are Made in Italy will be presented digitally, followed by Antonio Marras, which returns to the official calendar with a physical show after a few seasons of presentations, appointments in showrooms and a show held in Russia last February.

This will be followed by, among others, Diesel and Fendi. Although the latter brand is heading to New York Fashion Week to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its best-selling Baguette handbag, which as noted in WWD may imply a tie-up with Marc Jacobs, its Spring 2023 collection is hitting Milan as usually. Diesel, meanwhile, is opening its salon to the public, as is Anteprima, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary.

Vivetta and Stella Jean also return to the calendar on September 23 after a few years of absence.

As reported, Matty Bovan is leaving London for Milan, supported by Dolce & Gabbana, with a physical show on September 25, while this season's Valentino and Camera della Moda designers, Galib Gassanoff and Luca Lin of Act N. 1, will air on September 22.

On the penultimate night, the Camera della Moda will organize the Sustainable Fashion Awards event at La Scala theater, which will award 12 prizes. As indicated, the evening will be hosted by actress Rossy de Palma.

The final day will feature only digital presentations, including Mmusomaxwell, one of the few new names on the program, led by Johannesburg-based design duo Mmuso Potsane and Maxwell Boko.

The presentation schedule has not yet been released, and a final version of the schedule will be released on September 7, Camera della Moda said.
