My appointments will be based on merit – Accord’s Imumolen

The Accord party's presidential candidate, Professor Christopher Imumolen, has revealed his intention to appoint his cabinet members on the basis of merit if he is elected Nigeria's president in next month's elections.< /p>

He said the move was in line with the principle of inclusiveness and that he would appoint capable hands from all parts of the country, according to a statement from his press office on Monday.

According to him, the task of rebuilding a nation like Nigeria, battered by years of bad leadership and corruption, required the contribution of all Nigerians, including those of his co-aspirants like Tinubu and Obi who are quarreling also the coveted desk.

“The task of rebuilding our country is a daunting task. It will not be a one man show. their partisan affiliations, will be called upon to do so.

"For his skill and ability as an unreputable businessman, I will appoint Peter Obi, the current Labor Party Presidential candidate, as my Trade and Commerce Minister, while Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will serve as an advisor, most likely on the political front for obvious reasons.

"You will agree with me that these men will be best suited for the roles I mentioned earlier because of their backgrounds in their private and public lives.

"As I have said, this decision is intended to demonstrate that we are all partners in progress in our desire to see our country regain its lost glory, as well as to provide its millions of citizens with the true dividends of democracy.< /p>

“This decision is also intended to send the message that appointments will only be granted to those who deserve them in the type of reformist government we plan to lead.

“The concept of square pegs in square holes will be the guiding principle of our government under the Accord – the party that preaches unity and unity,” the statement read.
