However, in her defense, Grace told the court that it was actually Bright who caused their marriage to fall apart because he couldn't keep his pants zipped up and has since found a small friend for whom he had built a house.

Bright during his testimony revealed that he and his wife had not been physically intimate for the past nine years and yet they lived under one roof.

He told the court that everything was fine for him and Grace until she started going to the mountains to pray and leaving her homework unattended.

Bright added that once Grace came home late from the mountain and he locked her in.

According to him, he let her sleep on the veranda, but that the next day she brought her relatives to talk to him.

"I wasn't interested in meeting her because I lost my affection for her.

"When her relatives arrived, I overheard her telling them that I was drunk and weak when it came to sex.

"She went so far as to tell me that I was not man enough and that it hurt me," he said.

Bright further told the court that his wife had stopped washing and cooking for him and that he had been doing things on his own for many years.

However, Grace told the court that she and Bright enjoyed praying together, until he went to eat another “fruit.”

"How can I cook for a man who won't eat my food?

"He hasn't made love to me in nine years because he found another woman," she said.

She said that Bright was not working, but as soon as he got a job, he found a girlfriend whom he would date Nakonde for on business trips.

She told the court that she tried many times to talk to her husband for the sake of their children, but her intention was to be with the other woman.

"It was my husband who introduced me to the church because he was a very powerful elder and we served the Lord together, but upon finding another wife he changed completely. In the last three months, he even slept on the couch,” she said.

In delivering judgment, the Chief Magistrate presiding at Kabushi Local Court, John Kabwe, sitting with the Chief Magistrate, Emelda Masuwa, granted the divorce because reconciliation had failed.
