Security forces save six victims after terrorist attack on Nigerian train – Official
Security forces have rescued six victims in Nigeria after Saturday's terror attack on a train in south-south Nigeria's Edo State, a government official said.
At least 31 people were missing after the attack, which police say was carried out by "shepherds".
Edo State Communications and Guidance Commissioner Chris Nehikhare said in a press statement on Monday afternoon that a 65-year-old man, a nursing mother with her baby, a six-year-old girl and two siblings, aged two and five, have been rescued so far by the country's security forces.
Mr. Nehikhare, however, did not give details of the rescue - where and how it happened.
The commissioner said earlier that a victim escaped the assailants and that police arrested a suspect.
Security forces combed the bushes, looking for the terrorists.
"We are confident that the other victims will be rescued soon as the highly motivated security personnel are in good spirits and have stepped up their efforts in hunting down the kidnappers," Mr. Nehikhare said in his latest statement.

The train station where the attack occurred has been closed by the Nigerian government.
The Edo attack came about 10 months after terrorists attacked a moving train in Kaduna, northwestern Nigeria. Some people were killed and dozens of other passengers were kidnapped during the Kaduna incident.
Some passengers spent months with the kidnappers before being released, either after their relatives paid a ransom or after the government negotiated their release.
