Nasarawa police arrest three robbery suspects, recover weapons

Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers who disturbed the peace of the residents of Karu Local Government Area in the state.

Police Public Relations Officer Ramhan Nansel made the revelation in a press release made available to Lafia reporters on Tuesday.

He explained that the officers who arrested the suspects recovered firearms, cartridges and a stolen vehicle.

The statement read in part: "Nasarawa State Police Command, in an effort to reduce crime to its lowest level, conducted an intelligence-led operation against criminals at Karu LGA and its surroundings.

"Police officers attached to New Karu Area Command via actionable intelligence successfully apprehended the trio of Musa Mohammed, 33; Adams Lawal, 32; and Mark Friday, 32, all male .

“Two locally made pistols, one pump-action, seven bullets of active cartridges and a Honda Accord with RBC registration number 570 KZ snatched at gunpoint from a victim in the village of One Man were recovered from the suspects as exhibits.

"Preliminary investigation revealed that the trio are a syndicate of armed robbers specializing in auto theft. They attack unsuspecting members of the public who go out very early in the morning to go to work or places of entertainment. business and snatch their vehicles.

"Further investigation also led to the arrest of a certain Kayode Olajide, the receiver of the stolen vehicle."

Nansel said Police Commissioner Adesina Soyemi ordered a full investigation into the case, after which the suspects would be brought to court for prosecution.
