NDE launches vocational skills training for young people in Ekiti

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has launched special training for young people in technical and vocational skills in Ekiti State as part of its Youth Transformation Training Programme.

NDE Director General Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, who spoke at the launch of the orientation program in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, noted that the introduction of training by the program was a direct response to the increase in unemployment cases in the country.

Represented by the state coordinator of the NDE, Emmanuel Ojo, the Director General explained that the training of the 50 beneficiaries would involve marketable professional and technical skills that would be relevant and economically viable for young people to make a living.< / p>

He said, "This is a long-term program that will profitably engage young Nigerians in demand-driven and marketable occupations, especially technical skills such as computer programming, repair generators, car mechanics, handling, fashion design, restoration, battery charging and masonry.

“Others include painting, plumbing, POP, aluminum, fabrication, carpentry, tiling, electrical and installation; some last six months, some 12 months and some 18 months.

"This program is also designed to adapt to today's changing world, so that young Nigerians can continue to be relevant in the hot labor market and give them an edge in collar jobs. white."

The NDE boss urged beneficiaries to be committed, focused and punctual during the training period which he said was crucial for their financial independence given the non-availability of white collar jobs.

Some of the beneficiaries praised the NDE for giving them the opportunity to learn the skills, promising that they would take full advantage of the vocation with the aim of making themselves relevant in society.
