The driver who killed Nicki Minaj's father, Robert Maraj, in a hit-and-run has just been sentenced to prison.
Charles Polevich was sentenced to a year in prison on Wednesday after pleading guilty to two felony counts -- leaving the scene of an incident without reporting it and tampering with physical evidence. On top of that, his driver's license will be suspended for 6 months and he will pay a fine of $5,000.
Polevich faced up to 7 years behind bars, but Judge Howard Sturim followed through with a pledge to sentence him to a maximum of one year in prison.
TMZ broke the story... Nicki's father died at the age of 64 after being struck in a hit-and-run accident in February 2021 while strolling on Long Island.< /p>
At the time, cops said the driver fled the scene and attempted to hide the car in a detached garage at his home. Robert was rushed to hospital in critical condition and died of his injuries.
