Nicola Coughlan Talks New Season of 'Bridgerton' and How the Netflix Show Influenced Her Style

LONDON — The Christopher Kane show during London Fashion Week was the star's rare day off from "Bridgerton" Nicola Coughlan filming the third season of the hit Netflix drama Regency.

"We are shooting well in the new year, it takes months and months to film a season, said Coughlan, adding that they were down two episodes.

"It's pretty cool to dress up as myself rather than Penelope [her character of 'Bridgerton']," she said, seated next to model Lara Stone.

The show, she added, "had a huge influence on my style because I think seeing a garment being made from scratch and the amount of effort that goes into it really made me appreciate fashion in a different way and made me want to explore it.”

Coughlan has become a fixture on the fashion scene with designers such as Emilia Wickstead, Susie Cave of The Vampire's Wife and Roksanda Ilinčić offering to dress her.

"Every time I wear something from him [Kane], it's really feminine, but really cool because he has an edge,” she said, describing her long black dress with embroidered beads on the chest.

"He's just a really cool nice guy and I think in this world we have to supporting good, nice people,” Coughlan said, praising the designer's sympathetic nature.

In June, she hinted to WWD that Lady Whistledown was getting a "completely different color scheme" which is perhaps not so far from Tiffany blue.

"Looks are major," Coughlan teased of the new season, explaining that there was times when she was shown fabrics that made her tear up.

"I know it sounds silly, but it's amazing to see the character evolve, she becomes a woman and the garment cuts,” she said.
