Nigeria and ASG sign MoU to boost aviation technology

The Nigerian Ministry of Aviation on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Aviation Solutions Group (ASG), as part of ongoing efforts to elevate the status of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria .

According to the press release, the MoU also includes among its deliverables the provision of assistance to NCAT for the acquisition of three full flight simulators and the certification of a B737NG full flight simulator.

In signing the memorandum of understanding on behalf of the Government of Nigeria, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Aviation, Emmanuel Meribole, described the event as a "turning point".

He said the collaboration is expected to create new “windows of opportunity” for the college in particular and the aviation sector in general.

According to the statement, Mr. Meribole informed ASG management that Nigeria is the ultimate aviation destination and hub in Africa, and that any investment in the sector is a worthwhile investment and which is not badly placed.

He further said that the Nigerian government will continue to invest in the sector as the collaboration with ASG is a subset of the aviation master plan envisioned by the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika , as endorsed by the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari.

In his remarks, ASG Business Development Manager Vygaudas Usackas welcomed the collaboration and assured that the company was ready to ensure the implementation of the MoU to the letter, the statement said.

According to the statement, the official disclosed that the group has strong relationships with some domestic airline operators in Nigeria and offers mutually beneficial services.
