Nigeria had easy draws at AFCON U-23

The draw for the 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations was held at the Confederation of African Football headquarters in Cairo on Thursday, with Nigeria offered easy passage to qualify for the tournament .

The country's U-23 team has been drawn to play the second round of the qualifiers where they will face the winners of the first round between Tanzania and South Sudan.

The competition to be hosted by Morocco is to be held in June 2023.

However, the first round of the qualifiers, home and away, will take place from September 19-27, while second-round matches are scheduled for October 21-30.

The final round of the qualification phase will be held from March 20 to 28, 2023.

Eagles U-23 will then face Guinea or Uganda in the final round of the playoffs if they make it past the second round.

According to CAF, a total of 39 member associations are involved in the African qualifiers.

Morocco have automatically qualified as hosts of the final tournament while the remaining 38 teams will play the qualifiers.

The CAN U-23 tournament will serve as the qualifying tournament for the football event at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
