Nigeria seeks real partnership, not handouts – Vice President Shettima to world leaders

Vice President Kashim Shettima said Nigeria seeks genuine investment partnerships, not handouts from the international community.

Shettima revealed this on Monday during a speech at the United Nations Global Food Systems Funding Model meeting in Rome.

In a statement via his official Twitter account, Shettima stressed that the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is poised to redefine leadership in Nigeria.

He pointed out that the Tinubu government's recent policies, such as the removal of fuel subsidies and foreign exchange market reforms, testify to its open arms to investment opportunities.

“President Bola Tinubu is poised to redefine the meaning and concept of modern leadership in Nigeria, the giant of Africa, which has awakened from its slumber and is now ready to shake the world.

“Nigeria does not need handouts but real partnerships. We have taken the albatrosses of fuel subsidies and multiple exchange rates off our necks; therefore, we seek investments for mutually beneficial partnerships, not handouts,” he wrote.

After the removal of fuel subsidies, Nigeria reported an increase in revenue for June of N1.9 trillion, of which N907 billion was distributed to federal, state and local governments.
