#NigeriaDecides2023: Ondo PDP rejects House of Assembly results, as detained members sue IGP

The Ondo State People's Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected Saturday's House of Assembly election results, saying it will challenge the results in court.

It was even then that six members of the party sued the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali, in court for the ill-treatment they allegedly suffered at the hands of men of the forces of police during the just-concluded elections in Ondo State.

They were allegedly illegally arrested and detained during the elections.

PDP members are Taoheed Jimoh, Kazeem Sumonu, Tayo Oyedeji, Hakeem Sanuni, Afelumo Peter and Ademuwagun Ganiyu.

The complaint was filed through their lawyer, Adetoye Akinsemoye, seeking to uphold their basic human rights as enshrined in the Nigerian constitution.

Party spokesman Kennedy Peretei said on Tuesday that the party had enough evidence that elections were inconclusive in some constituencies while there were manipulations in others.

"For us, the process is not yet complete.

We have enough evidence that Ose is inconclusive. We also have enough evidence that some of the units in Odibgo Constituency 2 were manipulated,” he said.
