#NigeriaElections2023: Ekwunife accepts defeat in Anambra Senate ballot, congratulates Umeh

Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District and People's Democratic Party senatorial candidate in last Saturday's election, Uche Ekwunife, congratulated the winner of the election, Victor Umeh.

Umeh, a Labor Party candidate, was declared the winner of the election by beating Grand Alliance of All Progressives candidate Dozie Nwankwo and Ekwunife, winning 103,608 votes.

Ekwunife is the chair of the Senate Committee on Science, Technology and Innovation in the current Senate.

In her congratulatory message, signed by her media assistant, Kingsley Ubani, on Tuesday, Ekwunife said she had accepted the outcome of the election and urged members of her constituents and key stakeholders in the zone to support the elected senator as he prepares to represent the people in the 10th Senate.

The statement reads: "The Federal Legislature, while expressing gratitude to Almighty God for His guidance and protection throughout the long and intense campaign season, appreciates God for the peaceful election .

"The senator also appreciates the members of her campaign organization, various support groups and the individuals who have worked tirelessly to support her candidacy.

"She urges them to accept the outcome of the election in good faith.

"She assures Ndi Anambra Central that the outcome of the election will not dampen her spirit and desire to provide them with quality and effective representation in the remaining months of her term. She reiterates her commitment to finish strongly in line with its promises to the populations of the area.”
