Delta State Governor and People's Democratic Party Vice Presidential Candidate Ifeanyi Okowa has instructed Nigerians to renew themselves and focus on their hope for a greater country.

>

He urged the Islamic faithful to emulate the Holy Prophet Muhammad in imbibing the ideals of sacrifice he exemplified, adding that Nigerians will return to the path of greatness and healing sooner rather than later.

The governor made the call in his Sallah message to Muslims contained in a statement by his chief press officer, Mr. Olisa Ifeajika, on Saturday in Asaba, the state capital.

He said: "This year's celebration of Eid-Al-Kabir, held against a backdrop of growing insecurity and economic challenges, calls for deep soul-searching among citizens, especially for its cost in terms of the enormity of lives and property lost almost daily across the country.

“However, I would like to declare that Nigeria will return sooner rather than later to the role of recovery and greatness, given the determination of well-meaning citizens.

"And, as you gather for prayers and celebration, let me assure you of adequate security as measures have been taken by the security agencies in this regard," the governor said.

"On behalf of the government and people of Delta, I congratulate our Muslim brothers across the country on the occasion of Eid-Al-Kabir 2022."

Okowa particularly called on Nigerians to embrace peaceful co-existence exemplified by true brotherhood and turn to God for forgiveness to ignite the healing of the multi-faceted country it faces.
