Nigerian army deploys 65 officers and men for peacekeeping in Mali

As part of its multidimensional integrated national stabilization mission in the region, 65 soldiers from the Nigerian Medical Contingent 9, Level II Hospital have been deployed to Mali

Prior to their departure, DAILY POST collected that they had received three weeks of intensive training where they were trained on the use of weapons to protect civilians, conflict-related sexual violence, child protection and the sexual exploitation and abuse of skills to enable them to operate in Mali.

Army Chief of Operations Maj. Gen. Akinjobi Olufemi, who spoke at the officer graduation ceremony at the Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Center (MLAILPKC), Jaji Kaduna, stressed the need to protect Africa as an integral part of the military and is central to the country's defense policy.

The Chief of Operations represented by the Director of Peace Support Operations, Army Headquarters, Brigadier General Adetoro Bayode added that the Nigerian Army provides security and stability in Africa with a Particular emphasis on the West African sub-region through collective security and contributing to international peace and security are at the heart of the general objectives of our country's national defense policy.
