No More Coups in Nigeria - Defense Chief Irabor

Chief of the Defense Staff, General Lucky Irabor, assured citizens on Sunday that there would be no more coups in Nigeria.

Irabor also said that the armed forces would work with the police to provide security during the general elections.

The Chief of Defense gave the assurance to journalists at the National Arcade, Abuja, at the end of Armed Forces Remembrance Day 2023.

“Democracy has come to stay; government of the people, by the people, for the people has come to stay,” he added.

Irabor revealed that he was talking with the Inspector General of Police to work out the terms of election security.

“We have also planned for contingencies if we have to provide support to the police during the course of the elections,” the CDS added.

In his remark, IGP Usman Baba sympathized with the families of the deceased officers and men from the army, police and other paramilitary agencies.

Baba advised Nigerians to ensure that their sacrifices are not in vain as “we are engaging in actions that will continue to promote peace and unity, peaceful co-existence.”
