No retaliatory attack in Kara, Ajasse-Ipo – Kwara Police

Kwara State Police Command has refuted reports of a retaliatory attack in Kara, Ajasse-Ipo town, where people were killed in the bloody clash of last Friday between cow traders and members of the Odua Peoples Congress, OPC.

A statement from command spokesperson Okasanmi Ajayi in Ilorin on Wednesday said there was “no retaliatory attack or public order disturbance in the Kara Ajase Ipo area. ".

He said, "The area is pretty quiet and the cops are on the ground."

The spokesperson asked residents to disregard any false warnings of retaliation in Ajase Ipo.

"People should go about their normal business, please," he added.

DAILY POST recalls that last Friday's bloody clash was allegedly caused by a stray cow which smashed the side mirror of one of 20 vehicles carrying OPC members from Osogbo, State of Osun to Kwara State.

The case escalated into a bloody confrontation resulting in the death of some people while several others were injured according to a police account.

Governor Abdulrahaman Abdulrazaq, who made the one-time assessment visit to the region over the weekend, described the incident as regrettable.
