NPFL: Finidi confident Enyimba will end Bendel Insurance's invincibility

With the second stanza of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) kicking off this weekend, one of the most anticipated matches of Matchday 10 is a high profile clash between Enyimba and Bendel Insurance.

The game to be played in Aba has sparked mixed feelings about whether the Elephants will succumb to missiles from the Beninese Gunners or extend their unbeaten run at home.

Having played four games at the Aba Stadium, Enyimba are yet to concede a goal; a feat only achieved by the Elephants this season.

The Benin Gunners are also a great side as they are currently on an unbeaten streak and have scored six goals and conceded just two on the road this season.

Ahead of Sunday's clash, Enyimba coach Finidi George is confident his boys will stay strong against the short seeded Group A players.

When speaking with PREMIUM TIMES, the gaffer said that all details had been ironed out to secure Bendel Insurance their first loss of the season.

"Football being what it is, no one can predict the results, but I think my players are ready to give everything to ensure that we pick up as many points as possible at home."

In addition to Finidi's assurance, Enyimba player Elijah Akanni is optimistic about maximum points against the Gunners.

"It's going to be a very difficult match against a good team who are at the top of the table.

We will do our best to get the maximum points achievable in the game with God on our side. Akanni declared.

Meanwhile, Finidi spoke about the club's mid-season signing which saw the arrival of last season's top scorer, Chijioke Akuneto to the Aba-based club.

Finidi is optimistic Akuneto would be instrumental in the team this season.

"We actually brought Akuneto, former Rivers United player and top scorer last season, into our fold to add value to what we already have. My team is doing well and there is no need to edit team.

"We hope to do better in this second stanza than in the first," he concluded.
