NYSC CEO visits family of late anthem composer

National Youth Service Corps Acting Executive Director Christy Uba visited the family of the late Oluwole Adetiran, who composed the program's anthem.

The PUNCH reports that Adetiran composed the NYSC anthem while a corps member at Ibadan Polytechnic, Oyo State in 1984.

Director, Press and Public Relations, NYSC, Eddy Megwa, in a Friday statement acquired by our correspondent, noted that during the visit to the Adetiran family in Lagos on Friday, the acting CEO noted that the composer's legacy survived him.

Megwa said, "She added that the NYSC Anthem is a wake-up call for national consciousness, selfless service, national unity, and integration among Corps members.

"Uba prayed for the rest of the late Dr. Oluwole Adetiran, adding that the NYSC will always partner with the family."

He added that while welcoming Uba and his entourage, Adetiran's widow, Mrs. Olufemi Adetiran thanked the acting CEO, adding that the visit rekindled the family's hope that the NYSC will hold them in high esteem.

Megwa also noted that Reverend Mobiyina Oshoffa, who was visiting on behalf of Celestial Church globally, said Adetiran's legacy within the NYSC and Celestial Church as a whole would continue to bring fond memories for generations to come.< /p>
