Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki hailed the people of Edo for their peaceful and orderly conduct in the presidential and National Assembly elections on Saturday, noting that the polling result was unacceptable .

In a statement, the Communications and Guidance Commissioner, Hon. Chris Nehikhare, said the governor urged people to remain calm and not take any action which would compromise security and result in the destruction of property.

Nehikhare said, "Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki thanks the good people of Edo State for the peaceful and orderly conduct in the February 25 general election.

“The outcome of the election is unacceptable to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and we will duly seek redress through legal means as enshrined in the Nigerian Constitution to ensure that wrongs done in the electoral process are redressed.

"Like the PDP, most of our citizens are unhappy with the outcome of the election and we have every right to be, but we plead for calm and restraint and urge you not to take any action that would aggravate the current situation. situation."

He urged people not to take any action that would undermine security and result in the destruction of property.

“As responsible citizens, let us be calm and work collectively for the development of our State. We thank you for your continued support, as always.”
