Obi immature, should excuse me - Melaye
Spokesman for the Peoples Democratic Party's Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Dino Melaye, said on Monday that he "did nothing" to Labor Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.
The PUNCH reports that Obi got angry on Sunday night and lashed out at Melaye during the Presidential Town Hall hosted by Arise TV in Abuja.
Melaye demanded an apology from Obi, saying anyone running for president of Nigeria should be calm.
"He wasn't provoked, I was sitting far in front of the top seat where they were sitting. I didn't mention his name. And I was really surprised to see this kind of outburst from a presidential candidate. Is this the kind of president he's going to do? Just take people and show non-presidential characteristics?
"I did nothing. This outburst is therefore unjustified, very anti-presidential, unacceptable from a leader.
“A leader must be matured. Whoever wants to govern this country must be accommodating, must have a lot of patience, must have perseverance. These are basic characteristics of leadership anywhere in the world,” Melaye said in a video posted on his Twitter page on Monday.
He said a presidential candidate couldn't react that way in public.
“You want to be President of Nigeria and you react that way in public? This one will slap ADC for the position of President. he said.
Melaye went further to say that Obi was "so provoked" and carried away by Governor Okowa's performance, adding that he deserved "a serious apology" from the former state governor. 'Anambra.
Melaye said Obi should be calm like the Governor of Delta State.
“He was so provoked and so carried away by Governor Okowa's performance that he was saying that someone on the outside is from the ANPP. Does that make any sense ? Is there a party like the ANPP in Nigeria today?
“The next time you want to participate in a debate, be as calm as Governor Okowa…but that was very unpresidential and I deserve a serious apology,” he said.
