Off White Resort 2024

To the moon and back: This is the trip Ib Kamara made in less than a year as Off-White's art and image director. After the “Lunar Shipping” and space travel theme explored in his last two collections, for resort he went straight back to the roots of brand founder Virgil Abloh, landing on American soil to find inspiration. /p>

Kamara had a broad grip on the seasonal reference approach, mixing sportswear sensibility, winks hip hop eye, 90s silhouettes, western touches and tattoo culture in a range offering that cool, young and dynamic spirit that he is committed to preserving in the brand while striving to gradually improve his offer.

Basketball was the main sport of choice, mirroring Kamara's personal favorite (he named the Chicago Bulls as a team favorite – and recent collaboration for the brand – and revealed he used to play the game when he was younger). While the see-through women's versions of the basketball jerseys mixed different textures via lace, ruffles and beaded details, the male counterpart was literal in its reinterpretations, ranging from leather jerseys with numbers and bomber jackets resembling from real orange ball to pinstripe suits with numbers and in relaxed fits.

Stitching also came via removable strips on the sleeves - a subtle nod to the movies western, according to Kamara - or trendy pieces such as leather trench coats. Tattoo culture has been approached in a variety of ways, including disparate designs depicted on oversized jacquard cardigans or an X-ray print of splattered objects on fringed minidresses, nylon dresses or baggy denim pants. "It's a nod to the heavy security you have to go through at the airport," Kamara said of the sketch.

While these were designed for flashy graphics, the highlights of the collection were mini dresses hybrids and dresses in jersey, silk and lace that mix sporty elements with lingerie. Rendered in black and white or pastel tones, these best balance Kamara's blend of references as well as the sense of effortless, youthful sophistication he wanted to deliver.
