Ogun government vows to fix bad roads

The Ogun State Government announces that the State Department of Public Works will soon carry out comprehensive road repairs across the state.

Governor Dapo Abiodun's special adviser for works and infrastructure, Ade Akinsanya, said so on Thursday in a statement he issued.

Akinsanya, according to the statement, said this while inspecting the level of erosion damage on some roads across the state.

He added that the government was about to take remedial measures to make some roads damaged by the current rainy season passable.

According to the communiqué, the government is aware of the challenges faced by the populations, in particular road users.

"The rainy season is here and we are aware of the challenges that this brings to our roads.

“However, the government is monitoring the situation and is already putting in place adequate remedial measures to stop the threat.

"Some of the roads identified include; Mowe - Ofada in Obafemi Local Government, Adatan - More Second Junction Road in Abeokuta South Local Government and Akute - Alagbole in Ifo Local Government Area , among others.

Akinsanya further said that the identified roads, as well as others, will receive adequate attention immediately after the rain ends.

Akinsanya said that the reconstruction of sections of the Ijoko-Akute road is ongoing and is being done in phases.

He reassured the people of the state that their welfare and wellbeing remains the top priority of the state government.

He added that Governor Abiodun is committed and determined to not only improve the economic viability of the state, but also to make life more bearable for the citizens.
