Ollie Robinson: Durham to sign Kent goalkeeper-beater

Ollie Robinson of Kent

The 23-year-old came through Kent's academy and played 100 games and scored over 3,600 runs for the club.

Robinson joined Durham on loan this summer for the T20 Blast before returning to Kent to peak in career 206 steps in the One-Day Cup.

"As a man from Kent, c It's an extremely difficult decision to make, but I think it's what suits me at this stage of my career," he said.

"I am unreservedly grateful to everyone in the Kent coaching system who brought me here where I am now," he added on the Kent club's website.

He added on Durham's website that he was "delighted" to join the club.

"I think that Durham is the right place for me to help achieve my goals and next season can't come fast enough. I can't wait to see what the north has to offer,” he said.

Robinson, who helped Kent win this year's One-Day Cup and last season's T20 Blast, received his county cap in June and signed his first contract five years ago after joining the class aged 10.

"We currently have two wicket-keepers who are in and around the senior England teams in Sam Billings and Jo rdan Cox, and Ollie Robinson has rotated with the England Lions," said the manager of the Kent cricket, Paul Downton.

" From my own personal experience as a player I can understand the Ollie's decision to move clubs to secure playing time. Of course we would prefer Ollie to stay at Kent, but he has to do what is best for his career."
