Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, began the seven-day isolation on Sunday which would culminate in the celebration of the annual Olojo cultural festival.

A statement from the monarch's spokesman, Moses Olafare, said an end to the continuing strike by the Universities Academic Staff Union would be an important part of the royal father's prayer requests during the lockdown.

While in isolation, Olafare also said that Oba Ogunwusi would also pray for peaceful general elections in 2023, noting that the monarch also called on ASUU and the federal government to end their disagreement and reopen universities for students to resume their studies. .

"Young people are angry and no one can blame them. Just imagine the number of months they have been kept out of school, ASUU and the government must come together and end this because we can't handle young people's anger if it gets out of control.

"They have started blocking highways and even threatening to lock down airports, this is an indication that they have been pushed to the wall. So I call on our government to look in this direction and make the necessary changes .

"In the recruitment process at the newly unveiled OjajaMore, over 50% of applicants are undergraduates, showing that the ASUU strike has done a lot of damage. It's preventable and the government and ASUU should end it for the benefit of young people.
