Enugu Electoral Tribunal receives 14 petitions

The Electoral Tribunal in Enugu says it has received 14 petitions from aggrieved parties and candidates in the February 25 National Assembly elections so far.

The Secretary of the Tribunal, Mr. Yusuf Folmi, revealed this during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Enugu.

Folmi noted that petitions should be filed within the time limits for the submission of petitions by any aggrieved candidate and party.

“The Tribunal has only received 14 applications and is expecting more,” he said.

He said the parties that had filed petitions so far were the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labor Party (LP), along with their candidates.

“Of the number of petitions filed, 12 petitions are from candidates for the House of Representatives while the other two are from candidates for the Senate,” he said.

He said aggrieved candidates who have filed their petitions so far include John Ede, LP; Onwuegbu Anayo, PDP; Okey George, PDP; Cornelius Nnaji, PDP and Festus Amaechina, PDP.
