An eyewitness explained that 24 years ago, Aliu was caught in the crash as he tried to return home to avoid being injured during the crash, but he had no luck and got shot during the melee.

The source said, "The crisis started when some NURTW members were seen loading passengers at the place where the government had banned everyone from loading in Oloko.

"After being stopped, the drivers obeyed and left the park. But then they came back in large numbers with those from Iyometa and started throwing stones. When this happened, the rain started, and this caused them to leave the premises.

"But after the rain subsided they came back with guns and started shooting sporadically and one Okela Axis person was shot dead. He was rushed to Oke Royal Hospital ."

Confirming the developments, state police public relations officer Funmi Odunlami said one person was shot dead and rushed to hospital.

She said security guards had been sent to the area and normality had been restored.
