Our Fall 2023 RTW Legacy

The three Swedish founders of Our Legacy, all in their early 40s, have looked into some of their favorite garments from their formative fashion decade, the 90s, and their brand archives to produce what they described as a "mixed tape" of their favorite styles.

Jockum Hallin, Cristopher Nying and Richardos Klarén all appear to be members of an indie rock band and some are: Hallin noted that he played guitar and wrote songs for Stockholm band Heaven, which he described as "post-punk".

He recognized a thread of grunge that has run through the brand since its inception in 2005, seen this season in rugged sweaters ranging from big and oversized to short sleeves, shrunken down and worn over loose plaid shirts.

Nying, who is a creative director, said he was also inspired by his young children , which he dresses in "vintage stuff" and his favorite childhood outfit: a wide corduroy, a striped velvet top and a cozy sweater. He noted that while his mother never let him indulge his interest in motocross, moto styling usually features in the collection, this season in the form of a Swedish "expedition jacket" with its document pocket on the chest and its toggle closures.

A lightly lived-in feel on apparel bolsters the accessibility of this fast-growing brand, creating a expansion in South Korea and continues to break through with womenswear, which now accounts for about 30% of the business, Hallin noted.
