Oyo government inaugurates 33 education secretaries, warns against abuse of power

The Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, OYOSUBEB, on Friday inaugurated education secretaries in the state's 33 local government areas, warning them not to abuse the desktop privileges.

Inaugurating the Secretaries on behalf of the State Governor, in Ibadan, Chairman of the Board, Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran implored them to improve the quality of education in their localities and reduce the number of out-of-school children.

He thanked Governor Seyi Makinde for seeing fit to appoint the new Secretaries of Education in the 33 Universal Basic Education Local Authorities in the state.

While he warned that there would be penalties, for any form of abuse, Dr Adeniran said the state's Universal Basic Education Council had laid a very solid foundation and strong for new Secretaries of Education in the areas of infrastructure development, increasing the workforce. teaching and non-teaching staff.

He added that the Council has raised the bar for the learning process for formal and non-formal learners, teacher welfare and training and ensuring well-orchestrated primary school administration.

Adeniran, also instructed all education secretaries to be "high standard" in mastery of content, knowledge and skills that would ensure prudence, accountability and transparency in their new appointments.< /p>

"You, as education secretaries, are now well placed to build on the existing foundations and even add value where needed," he said.

He urged them to work hard for the success of the education sector with their new appointments, saying "so that at the end of it all, your names will be written in gold among those who have contributed immensely to the success of this administrative".

Dr. Adeniran said he believed their appointment was in recognition of their ability, capacity and contributions over the years to development education in the state.

"With you, a new era of primary school administration and leadership has again been ushered in. In addition, you must work very hard in your jurisdiction to complement the efforts of the State Universal Basic Education Board in particular and Universal Commission on Basic Education in General”.

He urged them to buckle up for the few challenges they might face, saying they should treat them accordingly, in keeping with the saying that “there are no insurmountable challenges”.

Dr. Adeniran also tasked them with taking over the general administration of LGUBEA, ensuring effective monitoring of school activities within LGUBEA.

Adeniran however called for strict adherence to the rules of engagement, so that the whole system is run as intended for the benefit of the state and the students/learners who are meant to be the future leaders.

"You should exercise great caution when making decisions and always seek the Board's permission and advice on gray areas to avoid embarrassment and mistakes that may be costly while running your office. It is my earnest prayers that you will succeed in all your endeavors and endeavors during your tenure as Secretaries of Education in your various jurisdictions."

Speaking earlier, Board Member Akeem Oladeji felt that their appointment was a deliberate move and a clear call for them to join the current enviable train of education administration, as evidenced by the state of being in tandem with the four (4) cardinal and objective agenda of this current administration led by Engr. Seyi Makinde, whose education is listed.

Furthermore, a part-time board member, Folasade Ajala, urged them to be focused, dedicated and loyal to the current administration who saw them as worthy.

The President, Nigeria Union of Teachers, Com. Raji Oladimeji, assured the Council and the new Secretaries of the Union's support and cooperation.

He also congratulated the new Secretaries of Education on their well-deserved appointment as Secretaries to education in all 33 LGUBEAS of the state.
