Panelists to Discuss Digital Literacy and Democracy at Cyberpolitics Book Unveiling
A panel is scheduled to discuss the implications of digital literacy for democracy during the public presentation of a book by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) Media Relations Officer, Omoniyi Ibietan, on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, the book's publishers have said.
The roundtable will follow the review of Cyber Politics: Social Media, Social Demography and Voter Behavior in Nigeria, by Azubuike Ishiekwene, Editor of Leadership Newspapers based in Abuja.
Discussions during the session will focus on “The cybernetic context of political communication and its implications for democracy in Africa”.
Author, Omoniyi P. IbietanPanelists are Mr. Ibietan, Majeed Dahiru, writer, public affairs analyst and CEO of Orascom Properties; and Abiodun Adeniyi, Professor of Mass Communication and Assistant Dean, Postgraduate School, Baze University, Abuja.
Chido Onumah, social entrepreneur, journalist, writer, author and coordinator of the African Center for Information and Media Literacy (AFRIMIL), will moderate the discussion.
The panel will focus on how cyberpolitics unfolded and shaped the last two general elections in Nigeria. The possible implications of cyberpolitics in future elections will also be scrutinized.
