Pant, 26, has not played since being injured in a serious car accident in December 2022.

The Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) said in a statement posted on Rishabh Pant has now been declared fit as a wicketkeeper-hitter for the upcoming TATA IPL 2024."< /p>

Pant had to undergo surgery to reconstruct a ligament in his right knee following the accident, world governing body the ICC said. At the time of the accident, reports in India indicated that Pant also suffered back and head injuries.

Pant's final match came days before the car accident that kept him sidelined for over a year, scoring 93 runs in the first innings of India's win against Bangladesh in Mirpur.

He played 33 Tests, 30 one-day internationals and 66 T20s for India.

Pant-led Delhi Capitals begin their IPL campaign on March 23 against the Punjab Kings.

However, Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami will miss the IPL season after surgery on his ankle prevented him from participating in the recent Test series with England, and he is also likely to miss the T20 World Cup.

Batsman KL Rahul is set to return for the IPL after missing the last four Tests of the series against England due to a quadriceps injury.
