PSG deny reports that Mbappé is working on a January exit

October 13 - French superstar Kylian Mbappé wants to leave Paris Saint-Germain in January despite signing a new three-year contract last May, according to multiple reports.

Mbappé, who has scored 12 goals in all competitions for PSG this season, is believed to be keen on moving to Real Madrid although Liverpool is widely anticipated as another possible destination.

PSG sporting director Luis Campos insists the 23-year-old has 'never talked about leaving' the club. But a series of reports in France by a range of media organizations said Mbappe, who topped Forbes' list of highest-earning footballers, was frustrated playing out of position.

Recently, he hinted that he would prefer to play alongside another striker, as he does with the France national team.

PSG have dominated the French league since cash-rich Qatari investors took over in 2011, but have failed to replicate that success on the European stage despite exorbitant spending on star players.

Club officials hoped that Mbappé's decision not to go to Real in May and instead sign a new deal would finally lead to a Champions League win.

Speaking ahead of the Champions League clash between PSG and Benfica, Campos played down suggestions that Mbappé is unstable in Paris.

"I am with Kylian Mbappé every day," he told French television channel Canal Plus. "He never spoke to me about leaving in January.

"It's not a statement from the player, it's [from the press], and to have such information before a match like this is very serious. That's why I'm here, to deny and say clearly that Kylian Mbappé never spoke to me or the president [Nasser Al-Khelaifi] about leaving PSG in January."

Campos adds to RMC Sport: "Kylian is an extraordinary professional. For example, he played sick in the last game in Reims, he made the effort for the team. I see Kylian arriving with his teammates, happy on a daily basis and with a huge desire to work."

If Mbappé were to exit, his current valuation, according to Football Benchmark, is over €200m.
