Party agents protest delay in uploading results to iReV, discrepancies in results

Some political party representatives have protested the delay in posting presidential election results on the Election Results Visualization Portal (IRev), insisting that collection will not continue until this will not be done.

They also claimed that there were instances of over-voting in the results of Ekiti and Kwara States as presented by their filing officers and Resident Election Commissioners.

PDP representative Dino Melaye, who appeared to be the most vocal, said the total result in Ekiti State exceeded the number of votes cast by about 800.

The Labor Party (LP) representative also said there was an overvote of 7,330 in Kwara State.

Mr. Melaye attempted to interrupt the presentation of the results by the Kwara State REC and the collation officer, insisting that the electoral commission must upload the result to IReV and post them for viewing during that state collation officers and their RECs present the results.

He said party officials will not be at the National Filing Center to “automatically approve the fraud that has been committed” at different levels.

He said party officials would make a presentation when the snack resumed.

But INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu insisted that cases of over-voting should have been reported either at their polling stations during the counting or at the registration areas, during local government collection or at state collection centers. Parties have their representatives at all three levels, he said.

After receiving the results from Kwara, Osun and Ondo State, he announced a break and said the snack would continue in an hour.

He said that the other RECs and state collation officers have not yet arrived with their results.
