Pat Cummins: Australia name pace setter as men's ODI captain
The fast bowler is already the Australian Test captain and he replaces former ODI skipper Aaron Finch, who has retired from the format last month.
Finch remains captain of Australia's Twenty20 team, while Cummins will lead the international squad at next year's 50+ World Cup in India.
The 29-year-old says he has "important shoes to fill".
Cummins, born in Sydney said: "I really enjoyed playing under Finchy and learned a lot from his leadership.
"These are important shoes to fill even though we are extremely lucky to have a one-day squad with a huge amount of experience."
Cummins' first game as ODI captain will return to nst England in a three-game series starting on the 17th November.
