Atiku said he would work to ensure Zamfara PDP gubernatorial candidate Dr. Dauda Lawal wins the 2023 general election.

A press release from Daudu Lawal's campaign office in Gusua says Atiku spoke on Wednesday when the PDP candidate visited Atiku, who was a former vice president, at his residence in Abuja .

The statement quotes Atiku saying that the only way to save and rebuild Zamfara is to vote against the current All Progressives Congress leadership in the 2023 general election.

"In order to achieve this, it is necessary to have a united PDP that will be formidable enough to face any opposition, no matter how tough.

"The best thing for the people of Zamfara State is to bring peace, secure farms and provide businesses.

“But the situation is now different. We must overthrow the APC to save and rebuild the state and the country. The PDP administration will also resurrect the textile industry,” Atiku said.

Earlier, Dauda, a former executive director of First Bank, explained that he led PDP stakeholders and APC stalwarts who decamped to the PDP, to congratulate Atiku on his victory in the party primaries.

Lawal said he was confident that Nigerians are now comfortable with the fact that the PDP has felt the brunt of the APC's poor governance.

"Achieving these pillars is a big harvest for the PDP in Zamfara State, given the caliber, status and political worth of the people who left the APC."

Among the stalwarts of Zamfar APC received by Atiku Abubakar are Alhaji Salihu Mai Buhu Gummi, Alhaji Sahabi Liman Kaura, Alhaji Illili Bakura, Engr. Garba Ahmad Yandi, Hon. Ikra Bilbis, Dr. Na'Allah Isa Mayana, Hon. Mukhtar Lugga, among others.
