Lorenzo Serafini seems to have found his happiness for Philosophy at the crossroads of a romantic spirit and a black seduction.
For Pre-Fall 2023, it continued to explore a shameless attitude and focus on body enhancement through shrunken silhouettes, stretchy fabrics and a predominantly dark color palette. It's a bolder journey he's taken this year that has shaken up the brand's youthful, feminine world in a refreshing way, adding a generous dose of self-confidence.
This time, Serafini worked with elongated, clean lines to deliver a complete wardrobe, ranging from a new take on dress suits – one that comes with a cropped blazer to wrap around the chest – to laced dresses stretching across the body; transparent dresses with cutouts, or more subdued, second-skin midi dresses in black tulle or velvet with contrasting Peter Pan collars.
The designer credited the fabrics with "enhancing the shapes of the body without constraining them" and allowing a woman “to appreciate both her own body and her dress” in the process.
Punk elements added a cheeky touch to the range, as seen in a leopard pattern appearing via short jackets; a baby-doll dress crafted from a mix of tulle and lace and layered over flared pants, as well as a print of bold lettering reading "I love you" that was splashed onto shirt dresses and miniskirts. Without citing an actual reference, Serafini pointed to the "Pistol" miniseries as a slight inspiration for these eye-catching additions.
Flanking these graphic effects, Serafini has played with textures to amplify the tactile quality of the collection. Cue crystal-embellished fuzzy lilac cardigans and bralettes, eco-fur with Lurex threads, the cascade of sequins covering pants and a standout draped dress, and florals and vinyl accessories that punctuated the compelling and cool range. /p>
