Plateau 2023: APC unveils ex-UniJos VC as campaign CEO

Nentawe Yilwatda, the gubernatorial candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) party in Plateau state, unveiled his campaign advice on Wednesday ahead of the 2023 general election.

He also appointed a former vice-chancellor of the University of Jos, Professor Sebastian Maimako, as the council's chief executive.

Also named Deputy CEO, is the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Saleh Yepmong, among other pillars of APC.

The gubernatorial candidate has pledged to unite the state regardless of tribe and religious affiliation if elected governor.

Nentawe, who was accompanied by his wife and running mate (Pam Bot-Mang), unveiled the campaign team at Rwang Pam Stadium Jos in the presence of thousands of supporters.

He also pledged to utilize the potential of youth for growth, progress and development of the state if so mandated, by 2023.

“We will address the economy of the state and 10% of internally generated state revenue (RGI) will be deployed to address the issues of vulnerable groups; such as young people, women and people with disabilities.

"We will be transparent, free, fair and lead an inclusive government while young people are mentored and appointed commissioners and other positions."

He said that strict measures would be taken to combat insecurity, as well as to reorganize the education sector.

"I call on the people of the state to continue to support our party at all times, I have Plateau's best interests at heart and I would transform the state if elected," he said. he assured.

In his remarks, APC State Chairman, Hon. Rufus Bature warned party members against anti-party activities, stressing that APC is a party of discipline.

He deplored the attitude of some party members who plot to vote for other candidates from other political parties, saying that if the party identifies them, they will be punished.

"We are convinced that we will win the 2023 elections, for the Presidency, the National Assembly, the Governorate and the House of Assembly, we will achieve it.

“We are fully prepared and ready to go for the campaigns, we are waiting for the bell to ring to start the campaign,” he said.

In response, the general manager of the campaign team, Professor Maimako pledged to travel to all parts of the state to campaign for the candidate.

He added that the candidate, if elected, would revamp key sectors of the state.
