'Please, enough with the Record-a-thons,' Guinness World Records tells Nigerians

Overwhelmed by the many record-a-thons organized by Nigerians, the Guinness World Records (GWR) asked them to take it easy.

GWR issued the warning during a Twitter exchange with a Nigerian woman who tweeted to them to inform them of her intentions to attempt two record-breaking feats.

Love Ajoke wrote: "I come with the titles Idea-a-thon and puff-a-thon. Get ready!

GWR replied, "Please, enough with the record-a-thons.

However, following the conversation, another Nigerian, identified as Olivia, asked, "Are you tired of my country?"

The world record asked what country she was referring to, suggesting they don't know where she is from.

Olivia wrote: "Nigerian we try to break all your records."

GWR replied, "We welcome all applications from all over the world. We can all be friends."

The warning comes days after the world records body advised Nigerians to seek confirmation before breaking a record.

In a quest to break or set a new record, it is assumed that many have begun to trivialize the world record and what it truly stands for.

Coincidentally, the message from the world record body also came when a Cameroonian skit maker, Tembu Daniel, launched his attempt at the longest crying marathon by an individual.

Compatriot Danny Zara recently announced his ambitious plan to embark on a 200-hour sex marathon to break the Guinness World Record.
