Police arrest bogus CAC officials

Lagos Police have arrested five members of a fake Corporate Affair Corporation (CAC) center in the Alausa area of ​​the state.

State police spokesman Benjamin Hundeyin said the operation was made possible on Thursday after a tip-off.

"After careful tipping, vetting and background checks, Rapid Response Squad (RRS) agents dismantled a bogus Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) center at Jobi Fele Way, Alausa Business District, Alausa, Ikeja," the statement read.

"Five suspects running the center were also arrested for forgery and impersonating CAC officials.

"Those arrested are 28-year-old Gloria Ukaegbu, 30-year-old Omolere Kayode, 34-year-old Taiwo Ajayi, 27-year-old Nwachukwu Brenda and 25-year-old Oluwatomisin Adebisi."

Police said the operation was led by Olayinka Egbeyemi, the commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS).

Mr. Hundeyin said he recovered several fake CAC documents, a Toyota Sienna and a Toyota Matrix used by the copycats for their activities.

“Preliminary investigation reveals that the union defrauded hundreds of people through false CAC records,” he said.

"In the meantime, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi, fdc, has ordered that the matter be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, for further investigation and possible lawsuits."
