Police Arrest Suspected Bandit, Arms Suppliers in Kaduna
A suspected bandit was apprehended on the outskirts of Kaduna by officers from Kaduna State Police Command.
DAILY POST reports that officers intercepted a vehicle loaded with arms and ammunition heading towards Katsina State.
DSP Muhammed Jalige, the Spokesperson for the State Command, in a statement released on Sunday evening, explained that in its continued and consistent commitment to tackling violent crimes in Kaduna State, the State Command police had "on October 2, 2022, at approximately 1:30 p.m., while acting on actionable intelligence around Sabon Gaya along Kaduna Abuja Road, intercepted a Sharon vehicle with Reg. No .MNA 819 NT, driven by a certain Lawal Abdul 'M' of Minna, Niger State, heading towards Katsina State via Kaduna."
The statement added: "After a thorough search of said vehicle, the following items were recovered; (1) 1 no. Assault rifle (2) Eighteen (18) rifle magazines (3) Two hundred forty-one (241) rounds of live ammunition The suspect and all exhibits were taken into custody while Police Commissioner CP YA Ayoku led an intensive investigation to arrest and prosecute the suspects. providers and users of these incriminated objects. The suspect had already made a useful statement which further strengthens the investigation process."
In a related development, Command agents, acting on an intelligence report, "on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, intercepted a shooter, a Musa Ibrahim 'M' from the village of Yan Siminti in Niger State, who was en route to Katsina State from Plateau with two hundred and eighty (280) 7.62 X 39mm live ammunition cartridges.”
The statement indicates that the suspect is also helping to conduct the investigation in order to bring about the arrest of his criminal accomplices so that they face the wrath of the law.
The statement said that, building on this series of breakthroughs, "Command officers had, on Saturday, October 8, 2022, apprehended a serial arms and ammunition supplier, a 29-year-old Sanusi Ummaru 'm' from the Nasa village of Kachia LGA with a large number of 7.62 mm caliber live ammunition around the village of Galadimawa in the LGA of Giwa. »
He explained that "officers intercepted the suspect at approximately 11:45 a.m. as he was on his way to deliver the dangerous items to his associates and during questioning the suspect confessed to having worked for a very long time in this nefarious business. "
