Traditional rulers of Idemili North and South local government areas of Anambra State have voiced their support for the People's Democratic Party presidential candidate, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku.

The monarchs said they were comfortable supporting Atiku and his running mate, Ifeanyi Okowa, who is also the governor of Delta State, because of the support they have received from a PDP leader in Anambra, Prof. Obiora Okonkwo.

The traditional leaders present were from the 17 communities that make up Idemili North and South.

Okonkwo is also the director of the PDP's Presidential Campaign Council in the state.

The Chairman of the Council of Traditional Leaders of Idemili North and South, Igwe C. C. Agbala, during a meeting held on Saturday in Ogidi, the headquarters of the local government area of ​​Idemili North, said said supporting the PDP was in the interest of the Igbo people.

Agbala said: “We can no longer continue in opposition as a region; we have endured enough and must bring our region back to national politics. You have our unwavering support and blessings. With you, we are comfortable supporting (a) presidency of Atiku Abubakar, knowing that you have a reputation for always standing in the line of progress, development and stability. »

Okonkwo, while addressing the monarchs, assured them that Atiku would restructure Nigeria if elected president in 2023.
