Police Crush Five-Man Kidnap Gang, Recover N4m

Nigerian police have dismantled a gang of five suspected kidnappers who are allegedly terrorizing the Mubi axis of Adamawa State.

Officers from the State Police Command rounded up members of the gang after the suspects allegedly carried out their latest act of kidnapping a child and collecting a ransom of 5 million naira from the parents.< /p>

A statement released on Friday by State Police Public Relations Officer SP Sulaiman Nguroje said the suspects were arrested last Sunday, October 9, in an intelligence-driven operation conducted by agents of the State Intelligence Bureau (SIB).

"Following the Command's renewed commitment to enhance proactive crime-fighting strategies, the Command again on 9/10/2022 disconnected a criminal network linking a five-person syndicate in the areas of local government of Mubi North and Mubi South", Nguroje indicated.

He added that the cash sum of 4,079,000 Naira had been recovered from the suspects, apparently what remained of the paid ransom of 5 million Naira.

“The result of this success follows a report received on the kidnapping of an 8-year-old Mustapha Aliyu Fadil in Mubi who was taken to Barassa Hotel in Maraba Mubi,” the PPRO said.< /p>

He explained that after receiving the intelligence report, the command quickly devised a strategy and apprehended 19-year-old Zaiyat Adamu, a resident of Tashan Gella, Mubi South LGA; Abdulrahman Abubakar, 31, resident of Shagari Low-cost, Mubi North LGA; Haruna Yakubu, 21, resident of Kaban neighborhood, Mubi North; Abubakar Muhammed, 20, from Angwan Ba-talaka, Mubi North; and Isa Musa 21, from Angwan Ba-talaka Mubi North.

“The suspects conspired criminally and took their victim where they held him for two days and two nights until a ransom of 5 million naira was paid to them before releasing their victim,” said he added.
