The Premier League is back! The 2022-23 season kicks off with Crystal Palace v Arsenal at Selhurst Park. The members of the Express Sport squad have had their say in the campaign ahead and Manchester United are set to endure a difficult first year under Erik ten Hag. None of our writers expect them to secure a Champions League spot, although some believe Christian Eriksen could impress at Old Trafford. While defending champions Manchester City are very much set to edge past Liverpool and win a third straight crown. See our predictions in full below.

Tendency Champions

Joe Krishnan: Man City - Even without Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus, the breakthrough arrival of Erling Haaland, with at least 20 goals, should secure City a fifth title in six seasons. Expect Tottenham to challenge under Antonio Conte after a successful summer.

Neil Squires: Man City - It looks like a repeat of last season's two-horse race with Manchester City and Liverpool the thoroughbreds ahead again. For all that Darwin Nunez should be a good choice for Liverpool, they will miss Sadio Mane and City, with Erling Haaland as the blonde arrowhead, will have the final piece of their jigsaw.

Charlie Gordon: Liverpool - New members of Man City's much-modified squad will take some time to get to grips with Guardiola's ideas - just ask Jack Grealish. A slow start would allow Liverpool to take an early lead and establish their authority in 2022/23.

Sam Smith: Man City - It's hard to look past the defending champions. Pep Guardiola has refreshed his squad at the right time and his side are pretty much about to propel Liverpool to another Premier League title.

Alex Turk: Liverpool - I think Darwin Nunez and Liverpool will come together faster than Erling Haaland and Man City, and that might just be the difference. Expect another thrilling two-horse race, with the Reds winning for a record 20th title this time around.

Jack McEachen: Man City - A few points will probably be enough to separate Manchester City and Liverpool at the top again, and the title could go to the team that avoids the most injuries, but Kevin de Bruyne feeding Erling Haaland is simply too good to fail.

Charlie Malam: Man City - Erling Haaland will be too likely to fail and despite some big sells like Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus, I think their team is still a bit stronger than Liverpool's.

>

Lewis Winter: Man City - The addition of Erling Haaland will add a different dimension to City this season. It might take him a little time to get used to Pep's style of play, but they'll be unstoppable when he does.
