Protesting NLC members wait for Sanwo-Olu at the government office

The Lagos State government has refused to address the protesting members of the Nigeria Labor Congress.

The protest was organized by the NLC to support unions at higher education institutions in the face of the ongoing strike.

Lagos State NLC Chairperson, Ms. Agnes Sessy, said, “We are waiting for Mr. Governor. This letter is due today. We are waiting for him or his representative to collect our letter. We will wait."

The NLC members arrived at the Ikeja Under Bridge and marched peacefully to the Lagos State Governor's office.

Protesters arrived at the gate of Lagos State House, Ikeja at 11.40am, and at press time no Lagos State government official had addressed the protesters.

Members of the Union of Academic Staff of Universities, the Association of Senior Staff of Nigerian Universities, the Joint Action Committee of the Association of Senior Staff of Nigerian Universities and the Union of Non-Academic Staff of Allied Institutions and education, Nigerian Teachers Union and other affiliated NLC unions were at the protest.
