Rivers APC spokesman joins PDP after criticizing Wike

All Progressives Congress Publicity Secretary in Rivers State, Chris Finebone, ditched the party for the ruling Peoples Democratic Party.

Finebone has strongly criticized the governor of the state, Nyesom Wike, on all fronts.

Finebone was seen in a photo posing with Governor Wike, outside the latter's private residence along Ara George in Port Harcourt, alongside PDP gubernatorial candidate Fubara Siminialaye, as well as d a former APC chairman, Chief Davies Ikanya, who is also in the PDP.

He reportedly met the governor and the PDP candidate privately on Thursday night, where the deal was struck.

When contacted, Finebone confirmed his defection to the ruling party in the state to our correspondent by telephone early Friday morning.

He said “Yes, that's true. That was yesterday,” but said the reason for his action would be known much later.

On Wednesday this week, the former APC leader criticized the Wike-led administration for turning a blind eye as measles ravaged communities in the state's Abua-Odual local government with registered deaths.

Finebone's latest defection has further widened the chasm for senior APC members and supporters of former transport minister Rotimi Amaechi to leave the state's main opposition party.

A few days ago, a former member of the House of Representatives and former commissioner of energy and natural resources, Dr Dawari George, who resigned from the APC last month, presented himself as Action Alliance state gubernatorial candidate after an alternate primary held in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.
