A 17-year-old girl simply identified as Binla alleged that a police officer stripped her and her friend, took their nude videos and raped them, after accusing them of stealing her 500,000 naira to Port Harcourt.

The teenager claimed that the officer, Salihu Kazeem, took her and her friend to a room in his house and sprayed tear gas before having a carnal relationship with them until the next morning.

Speaking to reporters in Port Harcourt, the girl said she feared for her life because the alleged rapist had started following her after she reported the matter to Rumokpakani police station, near the metropolis.

The teenager also revealed that the cop had sex with them on three other occasions.

She explained that she was introduced to Kazeem through her friend during a job search in March 2022.

The teenager said she was surprised the police officer accused her of theft after she returned her ATM card which he had given them to pick up something to eat.

She said: "He claimed he was getting a lot of charge alerts and we asked him for the amount. Recently he told us it was up to N500,000.

"He fired my friend and kept me with the girl who went to buy food at his house. He called his boys and told them we were thieves.

“He asked us to take off our dresses. He recorded (video) us while we were naked. He has now told us that if we do not cooperate with him, he will release the naked videos.

"Then he took us to a room and poured tear gas on us. He then slept with us until the next morning. After a month he came, like three times now."

The teenager explained how she met the policeman when she was looking for a job and how they got to his house.

"I discussed with my friend that I was looking for a job. She told me that she was going to visit her friend and asked me to join her.

"When I saw the man, I spoke with him. He asked my age, I told him I was 17. He said okay, he would see what he could do.

"He asked if we had eaten anything, we said no. He gave us his ATM card, that we had to pick up whatever we wanted to eat.

"We bought some food and came back to give him back the bank card," she added.

But in his reaction, the policeman (Kazeem) denied the act, describing them as hip girls, and that the girls consented to the sex act.

He said, however, that the girls used his ATM card to make several withdrawals after one of the encounters.

"They came to my house, I gave my ATM (card) to Elizabeth to go and buy food. They left with the bank card. I only saw them between 11 p.m. and midnight.

"None of them called me. None of them told me anything. The only thing I got was a charge alert.

"I tried to reach Elizabeth to get her friend to give me her phone number. She has now told me that she gave my ATM to Binla, that I shouldn't be offended.

“That the next day, she (Binla) would come to see me. So, who is now using the ATM I received the alert from?

"She said the lady who was with them in my house. I asked how my ATM got to Binla?"

Meanwhile, a lawyer from the Center for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign, Festus Bomwin, advised the police officer to submit to the authorities for questioning.

He called on police led by State Police Commissioner Friday Eboka to open a full investigation into the complainant and the alleged rapist cop.

When contacted, State Police Command spokeswoman Grace Iringe-Koko said she heard about the incident, saying the police commissioner invited both parties.

"The PC has invited both parties. So we are expecting them at the command today.

"I'm sure after hearing them, a quiet investigation will begin and the outcome will be known to the public.

"And whoever is found guilty will face the law," said Iringe-Koko, a police superintendent.
