Running mate denies defection of Zamfara PDP government candidate

The candidate for deputy governor of Zamfara state under the platform of the People's Democratic Party, Malam Mani, has denied that the party's flag bearer in the state, Dauda Lawal Dare, has made Congressional defection from All Progressives.

Speaking to reporters in Gusau on Sunday, Mani said there was not an iota of truth in the alleged story.

He noted, "Dauda Lawal Dare never thought of defecting to APC."

He argued that it was a complete lie spread by some troublemakers who misled the general public.

"Dauda has no plan to live the PDP and will contest and win the gubernatorial election under the platform of the PDP in 2023".

"Those spreading the rumors of Dauda's defection to APC are those who are uncomfortable with this growing popularity," Mani said.

He emphasized that Dauda was still in the running and would pursue the issue until he finally won power by the grace of God.

Mani expressed his optimism for the victory of the PDP in Zamfara State, given the large number of people defecting to the PDP from the APC and other parties on a daily basis.

He called on the people of the state to support the candidacy of Lawal Dare to save the state from total disintegration due to the continuing challenges of insecurity.
