Scooter Braun has opened up about her feud with Taylor Swift that began after her company acquired the rights to her music catalog in 2019, a move that she says will hurt her. had been taken by surprise. The famed music executive, who has since sold Taylor's back catalog, said he had 'regret' about how the business deal went and feels the fallout was 'unfair' in a new interview with the NPR podcast.

"The regret I have there is that I assumed that everyone, once the deal is done, go have a conversation with me, see my intent, see my character, and say, 'Great, let's do business together,'" Scooter said. "I made this assumption with people I didn't know."

Scooter then gave his version of how it all happened, saying he wanted to let the artists know about the acquisition beforehand, but that he had signed a contract that prevented him from doing so. Although Scooter didn't directly identify Taylor during the conversation, he appeared to be referring to the Grammy winner.

"I was under a very strict NDA with the gentleman who owned it and I couldn't tell any artists. I wasn't allowed to," Scooter explained "What I said to him was, 'Hey, if any of the artists want to come back and join, you gotta let me know.' to say, 'I don't want to participate in my masters.'”

After the deal was announced, Taylor quickly took to social media to condemn it, calling it her "worst-case scenario" and saying she had tried to buy the catalog herself, but had to sign an NDA which prevented the deal from moving forward. "Those master recordings weren't for sale to me," she concluded.
